Interview
Ça n'est pas la première fois que tu donnes un concert à Paris. Dans quel état d'esprit abordes-tu le prochain ?
De façon totalement détendue. J'adore Paris et le public français. Il y a un truc ici que je ne retrouve pas dans les autres pays. Quand je suis sur scène, j'aperçois toujours dans la fosse des fans qui pogotent comme des dingues, sautent dans tous les sens et se jettent les uns sur les autres. Ça n'est jamais méchant, c'est juste leur façon de faire la fête. Or, j'adore ce genre de comportement. C'est très rock'n'roll et ça me donne envie de chanter encore plus fort. La chose que j'espère donc pour ce prochain concert, c'est que le publie soit motivé et apprécie les versions live des morceaux de mon dernier album. En tout cas, je peux vous dire une chose ce sera la fête sur scène !
Tu parcours depuis quelques semaines le monde entier pour faire la promotion de « The Best Damn Thing ». Quel accueil te réservent généralement tes fans ?
Pour l'instant, ça se passe vraiment bien. Après Paris, je suis allée au Japon et à Hong Kon, où j'ai été super bien accueillie. Je suis toujours très étonnée quand j'arrive dans les aéroports et que des centaines de fans sont là à m'attendre. Je me demande toujours comment ils ont réussi à connaître l'heure de mon arrivée. Ce sont des informations que mon équipe ne communique jamais et, pourtant, il y a toujours un énorme comité d'accueil à mon arrivée. Cela dit, je ne me plains pas. Le jour où ça s'arrêtera, je me sentirai sans doute bien seule.
Le nouvel album de Sum 41 est maintenant terminé et sortira probablement en France durant l'été. As-tu participé à cet album ?
Non, pas du tout. Bien sûr, il m'est arrivé de donner mon avis sur certains morceaux une fois qu'ils étaient terminée, mais à aucun moment je ne suis intervenue en studio pour jouer d'un instrument ou chanter sur une chanson. C'est un truc que nous avions décidé dès le départ avec Deryck et nous nous y sommes tenus. Finalement, ma seule contribution durant l'enregistrement de cet album fut de couper les cheveux à tous les membres du groupe. Désormais, je suis d'ailleurs leur coiffeuse officielle et, selon eux, ma vocation n'était pas d'être chanteuse mais bel et bien coiffeuse ! En tout cas, je peux vous dire que l'album des Sum 41 est vraiment excellent et que leurs futurs concerts vont tout déchirer.
A propos de vocation, après « The Flock », tu débuteras prochainement le tournage du film « Twist Of Fate », où tu tiendras l'un des rôles principaux. Envisages-tu un jour d'abandonner la musique pour devenir actrice à part entière ?
Pour l'instant, mon principal centre d'intérêt reste la musique. Je chante et compose depuis que je suis toute petite et je n'ai pas l'intention de m'arrêter. Après cet album, il y en aura d'autres, et tant que le public me soutiendras, je continuerai. Cela dit, ça ne m'empêche pas de faire des choses en parallèle, et je dois avouer que j'aime beaucoup jouer la comédie. D'ailleurs pour moi, la musique et la comédie ne sont pas deux choses opposées, loin de là. Quand on est devant les caméra, il faut bouger, se mettre en avant, exprimer des émotions et, si possible, capter l'attention du public. Or, c'est exactement la même chose pendant les concerts. Après la grosse différence, c'est que, sur scène, je ne joue aucun rôle. Je suis naturelle et je ne cherche pas à me glisser dans la peau de quelqu'un d'autre. Incarnet un personnage au cinéma demande un vrai travail de composition, et, à ce niveau, ça n'a plus rien à voir avec la musique...
Peux-tu nous parler un peu de « Twist of Fate » ?
Je ne peux pas encore vous révéler grand-chose sur mon rôle, mais je peux d'ores et déjà vous dire qu'il s'agit d'un thriller d'une grande intensité dramatique à l'issue duquel il sera difficile de retenir ses larmes. J'ai été à la fois captivée et très émue par cette histoire, et c'est pour cette raison que j'ai immédiatement accepté le rôle de Chrissie, une jeune femme dont la vie va être bouleversée suite à un terrible accident de voiture.
Reçois-tu beauocup de proposition de films ?
Oui, pas mal. Et je dois avouer que j'ai tendance à ne pas lire tous les scénarios en enter. En fait, je n'aime pas beaucoup lire. A choisir entre un gros scénario et un bon magazine de mode, je choisis sans hésiter le magazin de mode ! Du coup, lorsqu'un scénarion ne m'intéresse pas dès les premières pages, je n'insiste pas. Je le mets de côté et je passe au suivant, car je me dis que c'est toujours ça de moins à lire.
